Majengo Primary School
Completed in 2007 at a cost of Ksh 15M
This was originally a British Army ammunition yard built in the 1930’s.
The school had 800 children with only 8 small classrooms in dilapidated buildings with inadequate furniture and facilities.
Nine new (larger) classrooms were built around a paved courtyard (with trees that now provide splendid shade).
Once again, we provided the other facilities that we realize are important to the success of the finished project: desks, pin- and blackboards, power supply and lighting, running water and toilets, a purpose built administrative block, a library, a walled compound and gates.
In 2010, we revisited the school and were able to add a new 2-room nursery block with a dedicated play area. We were proud to name the nursery after our founding chairman, Sugu Anjarwalla, who passed away after fighting cancer bravely in October 2006.
We also renovated an old store for use as a canteen to encourage better lunches for the children.
